Staindrop Goes World Cup Crazy
Never have Geography lessons been so popular! Staindrop’s Head of Geography, Mr P Cooke has created some very popular and topical lessons for Year 7 and 8. A keen football fan, Mr Cooke has created the lessons around the teams taking part in the World Cup. These lessons provide Year 7 and 8 students with the opportunity of studying countries around the world, their culture, economy, geography and diversity, through the reality of the World Cup.

In addition to the lessons, the Geography department has been decorated with the England flag. During Form Time every Form group has chosen a team and are spending time learning about their chosen country, its culture and geography.
Some Year 7 and 8 classes are also being given the opportunity to create their own web pages, based on the countries taking part in the World Cup. The most informative, interactive student websites, created within the schools Virtual Learning Environment will then be floated externally on the World Wide Web.
