Horses for Courses

Congratulations to the Year 10 students who have all recently passed their Riding and Road Safety exams.  The exam, the 'National Equine Standard' of the British Horse Society, was undertaken by 11 students and all passed.

Two students were specially commended, one for her grasp of the theory side and one for her riding skills.

The students are the first at Staindrop to have taken the course and it equips students with a good basis for further education or a career in horse management or a professional yard.

During their studies the Horse Care Students forged a link with a group of fellow riders from Chernobyl.  These visitors, who are tragically all experiencing some form of illness or disability, were enjoying the facilities at our local riding school.  Our Staindrop students assisted the Chernobyl visitors on their hack and are looking forward to meeting up again to further enhance their shared love of horses.
