We Made Our Mark at Regional Finals!
A group of Year 10 business students came up with a great idea for the Make Your Mark Challenge which was a national competition held on Monday 17th November.
The challenge was to 'Create an entrepreneurial idea inspired by the Olympic & Paralympic Values’ and the challenge was to be completed in one day and submitted to a panel of external judges. Out of 55,000 students who took part, the Saindrop group, "Everyone Climb!" succeeded to get through to the regional final.
Their idea was to start a business marketing a portable climbing wall with a target audience including less able bodied climbers. The students wanted all climbers to experience the sensation of climbing and had sourced harnesses and specially customised equipment allowing wheelchair users to experience the exhilaration of climbing.
The regional final was held at Lumley Castle on Friday. Staindrop's presentation and idea went down very well but they were beaten by Spennymoor School. It was, however, a terrific experience for the students and they enjoyed visiting Lumley Castle. Several of the students overcame their nerves and now can't wait to do it again!
