The Lions of Zululand Visit Staindrop

Thursday 2nd April saw an exciting display by African dancers "The Lions of Zululand" at Staindrop B&E College.

The dancers were in school all day, allowing some of our students and visiting Primary students from Ingleton and Staindrop, to enjoy their fantastic dancing display.  Workshops also took place allowing students to explore the culture and traditions of the Zulu dancers.

The visitors even challenged our Year 11 boys football team to an impromptu match!  After dancing all morning the visitors took an early lead but our valiant Year 11 managed to catch up and were only 3-2 down at half time.  After an exciting second half, Staindrop, cheered on by all of the students and staff clawed back another goal to equalise 4-4 on  the final whistle!

This was another first for Staindrop - hosting an international football match!  The atmosphere and the weather were fantastic!
