Staindrop wins national award.

On Thursday 30th April Staindrop was named nationally, as the winning secondary school for the Fronter implementation awards 2009.  Our online learning platform, Fronter, has been used in school over the last 3 years by staff, students, parents and governors who regularly log on to access learning resources, information about school and even their child's reports.

Over the last academic year our international co-ordinator has been developing links with classes of students in Germany and France.  By enrolling these students into our online "International Links" room the students have been able to communicate via forums and web page creation, with students in Staindrop.  They have learned about each other's school and home lives, hobbies, interests and have used their language skills to communicate in this safe online area.

The work in the International Links room was entered into the competition and when our e-learning co-ordinator attended the Fronter UK conference, she was delighted to accept the award for winning secondary school, on behalf of all who had worked on this project.   The CEO of Fronter UK complimented Staindrop on the collaborative nature of the work being produced in this room, advising that it was this collaboration which is the principle of all shared learning areas.
