Business Studies

Business Studies 

Business Studies is a subject which some students may opt for in KS4.  It is not studied in Years 7 and 8 but some students in Year 8 may have a taster session in Year 8 to assist them with the options process. 

Student may opt for the BTEC First Certificate in Business Studies or the BTEC First Diploma in Business Studies.  The Certificate is studied for 2 hours per week and is worth 2 GCSE's.  The Diploma is studied for 4 hours per week and is worth 4 GCSE's.

The courses provide students with an introduction to business and is designed to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills for future employment. 

There are 3 compulsory  units in both certificate and diploma:

• Exploring business purposes
• Developing customer relations
• Investigating financial control.

The diploma goes on to cover:

• People in organisations
• Personal selling
• Exploring business enterprise

As part of the course students will complete their "Welcome Host" Certificate and will run a business at the school Christmas Fayre.
