Geography is divided into Physical Geography and Human Geography. Physical Geography comprises the sudy of rivers, glaciers, earthquakes, volcanoes and rainforests.
Ordnance Survey map work is a compulsory part of the GCSE course.
Human Geography comprises settlements, tourism and managing resources.
Geography helps us make sense of the world around us and helps students to understand the causes and effects of of important world wide events such as the Indian Ocean Tsunami.
There may be an opportunity to study Geographical Information Systems in Year 11 if the number of students opting for Geography permits.
Assessment is 25% controlled assessment and 75% final examination.
