Information & Communication Technology, ICT, is studied for at least 1 hour per week for Year 7 and Year 8 students. They will develop key skills in ICT which are transferable to all areas of the curriculum, as access to ICT across the curriculum increases.
ICT is a core subject in Years 9, 10 and 11. Students who study 2 hours per week at Key Stage 4, work towards the attainment of 2 GCSE passes. Students who opt to study ICT for 4 hours, the additional 2 hours being opted for, will work towards 4 GCSE passes. The course is the OCR National course.
The six units of work covered in the core course include: ICT skills including word processing, DTP, organising files/folders, datbases, spreadsheets and email; web page creation; multimedia products; and, creating an audio production.
All units are portfolio assessed.
