Mathematics

Mathematics is studied throughout a students career at Staindrop school.  A minimum of 3 hours Maths per week is studied from Year 7 to Year 11.

In year 9 students are assessed in National Curriculum Levels but following the discontinuation of SATs at KS3, emphasis on assessment is on the basic preparation for GCSE examinations.

All students are entered for GCSE at either Higher or Foundation level.  Students are assessed and entered for Modular or Linear examinations when their teacher feels they are adequately prepared.

At KS4 Mathematics follows the National Curriculum programme of study which comprises:

    • AO1 Using and Applying Mathematics
    • AO2 Number and Algebra
    • AO3 Shape, Space and Measures
    • AO4 Handling Data

Mrs Clarkson is our Head of Mathematics.
