PE and Sport

PE and Sport

All students participate in at least 2 hours of PE every week.  This continues throughout a child's time at Staindrop and in Year 8 students can opt to take PE as an exam subject.   At Staindrop we offer 2 examination courses.

GCSE in PE

This course is made up of theory, coursework and practical activities.  The theory part of the course is assessed by written examination.  Assessment in all practical subjects is continuous and students will be given a final assessment in their 4 best sports.  A student can be assessed in a sport not offered by the PE department eg. golf, horse riding.

 BTEC First Certificate

All students are required to complete 3 units which are assignment based with practical elements.  They are practical sport, health and safety/injury in sport.  Students will also focus on developing and improving their own sports performance.

Extra Curricular Sporting Activities

Every term our PE department provides a wide variety of extra curricular sporting clubs and groups.  From Archery to Trampolining, Street Dance to Cricket, there is something for everyone!  Further details are here.
