Travel and Tourism

Students can opt to study Travel and Tourism in Year 8.  There are 2 courses on offer.

Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism

This course is equivalent to 2 GCSE grades A*-C and has been updated for 2010.  It offers the students opportunities to take part in planning trips, group projects, work experience and residential activities.  There are 6 units including:

• Customer service
• The UK travel and tourism sector
• Nature and the effects of world travel
• Worldwide destinations
• Holiday planning
• Planning visits

All work is internally assessed through coursework. 

BTEC First Diploma in Travel and Tourism

This course is equivalent to 4 GCSE grades A*-C.  This course has the same content as above but students will complete 12 units of work.  The units can be selected according to students preferences and is flexible.

All work is internally assessed through coursework with no final examination.
