Head Teacher
Mr B Kinnair
At Staindrop School we cater for all children between the ages of 11 and 16 and have, this year, an intake of approximately 620 pupils. Set on the western edge of the historic village of Staindrop and overlooking rolling fields and farms, Staindrop School is without doubt one of the most attractively situated schools in the region.
Since September 2005 we have been designated a Specialist business and Enterprise College. This has provided pupils with extra educational opportunities without upsetting the balance of the curriculum.
At Staindrop School we place great importance on academic excellence, continually monitoring our teaching methods and the progress of individual pupils.
In January 2007 we received notification from the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust that Staindrop School had achieved membership of the Trust’s most Improved Club thanks to our outstanding examination success over the last three years.
Last year 71 per cent of our students achieved five or more higher grade GCSE/GNVQ passes and 100 per cent of our students achieved at least one GCSE/GNVQ pass. Pupils also have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Every pupil at Staindrop is regarded as an individual and the school is a caring place, where everyone is encouraged to do their best in a safe and welcoming environment. Not only examination success but the all-round achievement of pupils is given high priority at our school.
