Access to Computers

Six Fully Equipped ICT Suites

At Staindrop Business and Enterprise College, we have six fully equipped computer suites along with clusters of desktop PC's and laptops throughout departments.  Our gaphics department has a cluster of apple mac's and we have laptops available in our excel department.   

Brand New Dales Multi Media Suite

Work has just been completed on the most cutting edge of our six ICT suites.  The Dales Multi Media Room is equipped with the fastest PC's and laptops.  In order that students can create high level multi media resources the room is equipped with digital HD video and still cameras; equipment to create podcasts; MacBook Pro's; iPads for the latest educational apps; iPod nano's and touch's allowing students to access mp3 files and podcasts hosted on our VLE.

Access for All

The ratio of students to computers is approximately 2:1.  As our students progress through school they will have increasing levels of access to computers in order to assist them with coursework and revision in all subject areas, not just their ICT lessons.  

Students have access to a supervised computer suite 4 lunchtimes a week and 4 evenings a week, allowing students who do not have computer access outside school to enjoy the benefits that computers bring to their learning.  Students can also access ICT facilities by arrangement with teachers before school and during morning break time.

ICT Across the Curriculum - The eLibrary

The Dales Multi-Media room is also the base for our collection of mobile and hand-held devices which can be booked out by teachers and students to use in classrooms across the school.  From PE to Science, teachers can book digital equipment to help them in the delivery of their lesson.  Students can book equipment in order to assist them with their lessons.
