At Staindrop Business and Enterprise College we have had a digital learning platform available for students since 2006. It is a government requirement that all schools should have a virtual learning environment or learning platform by 2008.
Our learning platform is a secure web based site which gives students, teachers, parents and governors 24/7 access to learning resources and virtual classrooms in which they can hand-in work, access teaching resources, communicate with teachers and other students and check on timetable and calendar information. The capabilities of a learning platform are huge. Staindrop has embraced the new technologies and all students from Year 7 to Year 11 have access to this powerful learning tool.
There are no more excuses about forgetting to hand homework in - handed in digitally from the comfort of a students home computer, work can be marked and handed back to students by teachers from their own desks.
With the implementation of tools including podcasting, embedding video and creating web pages and sites, Fronter allows students to be creative in the most cutting edge technologies.

In a digital world children are increasingly using digital methods of communication. from MSN to Facebook, texting to web cams we are all involved in ensuring the safety of our young people.
Mrs A. Carr, Assistant Headteacher, has compiled some guidance which can help support parents to monitor their child's online safety.
The documents can be downloaded here. Internet Safety and Supporting Your Child to Use the Internet. There is also a section on this website aimed directly at our young people.
